What You’ll See

The Shelter House is a remarkably preserved 18th Century dwelling. You’ll see period-accurate construction, craftsmanship, furnishings and household objects. Tours are provided by our on-site curator, who has had the unique experience of living in this piece of Colonial history for more than 40 years. A visit to the Shelter House is a true trip back in time, close to home.

Are school and scout groups welcome?

Of course! Education is a core mission of the Shelter House Society. Contact us or call 610-965-9258 to schedule your group’s visit.

I can’t visit. Can I still get involved?

Absolutely. Joining the Shelter House Society for as little as $10 ensures we can preserve this gem for future generations. You’ll receive numerous benefits in exchange for your tax-deductible contribution, including a subscription to The Hearthstone, Emmaus’ only print publication dedicated to local history.
