Ellen McPeake, President
Ellen has spent most of her professional life working in the nonprofit world. She has served in senior management positions in local, national, and international organizations in Washington, DC. She also served as a Board member and Treasurer of two nonprofits prior to joining the Shelter Houses Board in 2018. Her specialties are finance and operations.
Jane Western Maulfair, Vice President
Jane has been a member of the Shelter House Society since 2003, serving on the Board of Directors as Recording and Corresponding secretary, then President until 2019. She is a retired educator and journalist. Her interests are all things historical – both local and global. Volunteering with various service organizations decorates much of her time. Jane also produces “The Hearthstone,” the Shelter House Society’s annual publication.
Anita Eisenhard, Treasurer
Anita has served as treasurer of the Shelter House Society since 2017. She is an office manager for her family’s trucking business. She is also a Sunday School superintendent and member of the bell choir at her church. She lives in Mertztown with her husband.
David W. Biles, Secretery
David, who joined the Shelter House Society in 2013, serves as newsletter editor, secretary, investment chairman and membership chairman. David also serves on the Board of Directors of the Electric City Trolley Museum Association in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
David served on the Borough of Emmaus Utility Authority and, until 2017, the Borough Planning Commission. He and his wife Charlene have been Emmaus residents since 1985. He is a retired Carl R. Bieber Tourways driver.
